Beginning of a New Year!!!

I remember when we were kids we were so excited about the new year. We would be planning for what all we did not do and that would be the fallover for the coming year. The idea about receiving new diaries, new calendars always was endearing.
We thought that with the whiff of a magic wand everything would change for the better. With starry eyes we waited expectantly for first January.
We grew up and then it was about parties, either we were invited or we threw them. It was fun and frolic. The next day clearing the mess of  the party was also fine. Years slipped by and then all this seemed to become too much. Groups of friends seemed like a crowd. The halls turned out to be claustrophobic. If the party was at home, the next day clearing took to nerves. It all seemed so hollow. The most beautiful diaries purchased were half-filled. So many resolutions were left in between. It would leave me crestfallen.
I look back and see how i had changed with the passing times. Now the best way to begin a new year is to stay home, cook for the family, watch some TV n chill. The diary now bought was with a lot of thinking. The resolutions made were more practical. The ones that were not met last year were taken lightly. I had moved on, accepted it with grace.
I had finally grown up, realised one needs to do their best !!!!

Women rock the world

I know these are true, for we women are famous for saying one thing and thinking another....sometime we do not even know what we are really saying ourselves!! I did not agree with only one and that is about the "shape," that is simply unhealthy.

I have heard this a lot too, "Do not play with a man's ego or a woman's emotions" and that is also true!

What do you have to say about this, I wonder...

but i thought this happened only in india***A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (GeneralMotors) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teamspracticed long and hard to reach their peak performance before therace.**On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.**The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided toinvestigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team madeup of senior management was formed to investigate and recommendappropriate action.**Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 personsteering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 personrowing.**Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired aconsulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a secondopinion. They advised, of course, that too many people were steeringthe boat, while not enough people were rowing.**Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to preventanother loss to the Japanese, the rowing team's management structurewas totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steeringsuperintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager.**They also implemented a new performance system that would give theone person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It wascalled the "Rowing Team Quality First Program", with meetings, dinnersand free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting newpaddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practicesand bonuses.**The next year the Japanese won by two miles.**Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poorperformance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, andcanceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money savedwas distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the nextyear's racing team was out-sourced to India.
A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a 1000 Rs. note. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this 1000 Rs. note?” Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this note to one of you but first let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple the note up. He then asked, "Who still wants it?". Still the hands were up in the air.” Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air."My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth 1000 Rs. Many times in your lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.”
You are special. Don't ever forget it! Never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams.

A Different Stroke

Sonia Gandhi is certainly a truly sensitive Italian lady and once
again she has proved it.She has always been very sophisticated and
decent and has always been empathetic towards her rivals. When the
terrorists had attacked the Parliament She was the first one to call
on the then PM Atal Bihari Bajpayee about his safety and security, she
had asserted Mr. Chandrashekhar the Ex-PM to go for an extensive
medical treatment. She has followed a trend set by Jawaharlal Nehru
who appreciated his then rival Atal Bihari Bajpai to maintain a
cordial relation with the opposition party.
These kind gestures it seems have been understood and payed back. It
came as a pleasant surprise when the she-tank of the opposition party
(BJP) payed her homage to Rajiv Gandhi at Vir Bhumi. Though it was not
long before that they were arch rivals and Sushma Swaraj had sworn to
go bald if she lost her elections in Bareily against Sonia Gandhi. The
tables have turned , the two it seems share a close bond these days.
Both have been staunch supporters for the passing of the Women’s Bill
in the Parliament. The
sources from BJP who do not wished to be named are of the opinion that
Sonia Gandhi who is generally considered to be cold, is very warm and
spontaneous towards Sushma Swaraj. They are friendly, talk about like
two buddies sharing jokes and well-being about their family members.
It is a welcome sight to watch both of them walking out of the
Parliament chatting.
Lets all keep our fingers crossed for their budding friendship to
bloom into a strong one so that it becomes capable of facing the rough
weathers of politics and oppositions. This would bring about a
positive environment in the otherwise bickering, shouting and
mud-slinging houses and could also help reaching consensus on the
Bills to be passed.
Are the likes of Lalu Prasad, Mayawati, Mamta Banerjee, observing so
that instead of snide remarks, accusations, allegations ,unrest and
enimosity they try to deliver and serve, which are the very reasons
of their being elected

Is the steep hike in the prices of petro-products justified?

Is the steep hike in the prices of petro-products justified?

No, certainly not, it seems as if the common man in being taken for a
ride by the Government. It is presenting a totally different picture
of the reality. The petroleum companies are certainly not suffering
any kind of losses as the Government is trying to project, as the
companies have never come forward stating their losses. The former is
stressing about the under-recoveries but what kind of under-
recoveries are not specified.

All around the globe the petroleum companies are minting money even
after the hike in the prices of crude oil, eg, BP, Exxon and Shell
have made billions. Then why should we pay more for our transport and
cooking gas, as the Government has lifted its control on the companies
and has given them the liberties to fix prices of fuels on the basis
of market forces- of state controlled prices of petrol?

The reason evident of dismantling Administrative Price Mechanism (APM)
is obviously not aimed at the profits of the Public Sector Companies,
which are nine in number, but for the private oil companies who find
it hard to compete with the tight budgeting of PSUs. This apparently
can be said to be the after-effect of the agreement between the two
feuding brothers’ oil-companies. Their retail outlets were in a state
of fix because of PSUs maintaining just prices.

The hike in the prices of the petroleum products would mean increase
in the prices of other goods, that would push the existing inflation
rate of 10% even higher. It would further add to the costs of other
commodities like- cement, metals, other consumer durable items, hotels
etc. The concerned companies have to bear the burden as they cannot
immediately increase the prices on the commodities. This would make
the poor consumers have a fit. However in the end the consumers will
have to bear the brunt.
